COLUMBIA BIOMEDICAL ACCELERATOR
Selected teams receive funding, advice, and guidance to help advance promising biomedical technologies from conception to proof-of-concept.
A major goal of the program is to educate researchers, clinicians, and students about the many aspects involved in commercializing biomedical innovation.
2017 PROJECT AWARDS

bringing ideas to life
We are extremely pleased to announce newly funded projects in the Columbia Biomedical Accelerator portfolio.
Over $680,000 has been awarded to this year’s most promising project teams to catalyze the movement of biomedical innovations into products that can improve patient care.
Project support is expected to serve as a bridge to commercial investment, with awards granted to perform specific tasks needed to validate a commercial hypothesis (vs. a scientific hypothesis).
The 2017 winning project teams are working to address a wide range of unmet clinical needs, from an innovative wound care product aimed at improving quality of life for those with fragile skin disorders, to drugs to prevent the development of stress-induced psychiatric disorders, to a test to evaluate patient-specific drug response to guide chemotherapeutic treatment.
